TAC supports COSATU Strike

The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) supports the national strike by the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) on Wednesday 7 March 2012 against e-tolling systems and exploitation by labour brokers.

COSATU has also emphasised that the strike is about improving service delivery and standing against corruption. We too support these aims.

With respect to service delivery COSATU has called for:

  • Commitment to the underlying principles of National Health Insurance (NHI) which view access to health-care as a right.
  • Properly resourced schools
  • Improved public transport
  • Better safety and security services
  • Strong measures against both public and private sector corruption
  • An end to extravagance by our leaders.

TAC will mobilise its members country-wide to support the strike. 300 comrades from TAC branches in the Western Cape will join the COSATU march in Cape Town.
