About our district:
This is one of the 6 model districts and is located in Mpumalanga province. Since its inception 01 March 2009 we have seen the rapid growth in TAC branches, visibility and the address of some of the health challenges in the public health system particularly around the HIV/AIDS programmes. The district has three interrelated programmes namely Prevention Treatment Literacy, Community Health Advocacy(CHA) and Policy Communication and Research. The CHA programme has attached to it the PWA sector and the Women’s Sector. The main campaign in district thus far has been the Resources for Health Campaign which has recorded many successes as we’ve the swift response by the DoH to some of the issues tabled in the memorandum of demands.
In the next three months we will be focussing on PMTCT, sexual assault, women leadership, the expansion of the PWA sector, branch inductions, and detailed research study(information collection) on service delivery with a particular focus on implementation in the public health system. This process will seek to make sure that there is the collaboration of HIV/TB services, implementation of dual-therapy,PMTCT,an end of stockouts and fully functional district AIDS and Health structures.
