FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SISTERLOVE, INC. AND TREATMENT ACTION CAMPAIGN (TAC) LAUNCH WOMENNOW! 2021 SUMMIT IN DURBAN

On December 3rd, at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani in Durban, South Africa, SisterLove, Inc. is proud to present in partnership with Treatment Action Campaign(TAC), it’s biennial International Summit, WomenNow!. WomenNow! provides anopportunity to organize women and girls of African descent to build a movement that influences the content and execution of the international discourse on the intersections of HIV, gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive wellbeing. The Summit addresses critical areas of concern for the equity and equality of black women and girls in HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), resources and program implementation. These critical conversations and action plans are intended to accelerate Black women and girls’ organizing in collective action on key issues of race, economic and gender inequality, empowerment, gender-based trauma, violence, sexual and reproductive health and justice.

The Summit unites a broad diversity of leaders who are clinical, social and behavioural scientists, advocates, activists, students, academics, philanthropists, donors, journalists, policymakers, artists, faith leaders, and business leaders who are concerned about women’s health, development and human rights. They also gather to engage with others from the International Conference on AIDS & STIs in Africa (ICASA2021), also held in Durban, to exchange new information emerging from research on women’s and girls’ vulnerability to HIV, GBV and SRHR abuses. ICASA will follow WomenNOW!, beginning December 6th and continuing through December 11th, at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

The Summit will consist of three days of “deeper dives”, workshops, affinity group sessions, strategic action planning, performances, networking and fellowship. Please note, due to the pandemic, strict standard safety protocols are in place for this event including social distancing, hand washing/sanitizing, and small gatherings.

No one will be permitted into the facility without a mask and masks must be worn at all times. We will be encouraging testing and vaccinations for all participants.
