Ode to Butter

I’m not the first person who has questioned “Is there anything better than butter?” but I’m going to dare to go one step further and ask “Is there anything more beautiful than butter?”

Aside from my father-in-law who apparently had an extremely traumatic butter incident as a child you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like butter. And then there are those of us who LOVE butter!

I make a type of Greek shortbread almond cookie called Kourambiedes. When making these cookies you actually beat the butter by itself for a full 15 minutes before you add anything else. The patterns that the beaters make in the soft highly whipped butter are truly gorgeous.
I painted a small bookshelf that sits next to my side of the bed a butter yellow so that it could be the first color I see upon waking every morning.

No, I’m not obsessed but I do like the real thing. No margarine for me!
