This is to update you about the above case that was reported in Lusikisiki and supported by TAC comrades that today was theeeeee day that the perpetrator (Sonwabo Mangcongoza) was found guilty by the lusikisiki court of raping Nomthandazo Radebe who was 18 then and a TAC member, his had a female lawyer who to our surprise informed the court that “I believe that the victim has overcame the trauma therefore the magistrate should consider a lesser sentence”.

The publication is edited by Tandeka Vinjwa, a Media Literacy Practitioner at TAC's Lusikisiki office.
This edition focuses primarily on rape and gender-based violence to coincide with the District's June GBV campaign, but it also features articles on cervical cancer, child-headed households as well as an update on TAC's new campaign in Canzibe.

The Pill, wow!!! and 30.4% believe that HIV can be transmitted via a toilet seat (and this is how many years later after the ‘my friend with HIV is still my friend ads)! And About 27% think that HIV infection can be prevented by bathing after sex!!

Cape Town/Johannesburg, 28 January 2009: The Sonke Gender Justice Network is deeply disturbed by the sexist comments made last week by ANC Youth League president Julius Malema and by the failure of the ANC to sanction him.
Last week, at a meeting with 150 Cape Peninsula University of Technology students on January 22, Malema suggested that the woman who accused ANC president Jacob Zuma of rape had a "nice time" with him and said, "when a woman didn't enjoy it, she leaves early in the morning. Those who had a nice time will wait until the sun comes out, request breakfast and ask for taxi money.”

TAC marches against gender-based violence in uMgungundlovu
25 June, 2008 - 20:22 — moderatorIn response to the recent rape of the six year old daughter of a TAC member in Elandskop, KwaZulu-Natal TAC uMgungundlovu (Pietermaritzburg) marched through Elandskop last week demanding an end to gender-based violence (GBV), sexual assault and rape in the community and asking for improvements in the local criminal justice system. Out of the eight rapes reported in Elandskop this year only one has ended in a conviction.
