ALP memorandum on state antiretroviral tender

The AIDS Law Project (ALP) has written a memorandum explaining their concerns with the antiretroviral tender that the state has put out. The memorandum identifies problems with:

  • Type and quantity of ARV medicines to be procured;
  • Contract period;
  • Legislative requirements (relating to registration and licensing concerns);
  • Lack of clarity regarding the points system;
  • The “cost” of local production;
  • Price qualification;
  • Labels, packaging and package inserts;
  • Counter offers; and
  • Adverse drug reactions.

The ALP believes that the state would be in a stronger position to secure the right medicines at the right prices if the tender took their concerns into consideration. The TAC endorses the ALP's memorandum.
