Kruger National Park is one of the definitive symbols of Africa, with the herds of wild animals that roam through it attracting thousands of visitors every single year. The animals aren’t the only attraction though, as Kruger National Park also boasts some of the best accommodation in Africa, as well as a number of excursions for the whole family to enjoy.
That being said, the number one reason that people head to this little corner of paradise is so that they can see all of the natural beauty that it possesses. There are abundant herds of buffalo roaming the plains, as well as a number of elephant and lions for people to marvel over. When the presence of leopards, rhinos and hippopotami are added into the mix, then it becomes clear why this area of the world is so popular for people looking to immerse themselves in wildlife.
For children the Sudwala Dinosaur Park is a must visit, as it has a huge collection of displays that look exactly like the dinosaurs that used to roam this part of the earth. It isn’t just children that will enjoy this day out though, as the park is set in one of the most stunning areas of ornate garden in the whole continent. On top of this there are genuine fossils for visitors to look at, many of which were found in the area on which the park was built on.
As can be seen, there are a huge number of different activities for one to enjoy in this amazing place, but it wouldn’t be right to not finish this piece of writing back where we started – with the safaris. This is because the animals really are the star of the show in this part of the world, no matter how many other attractions there are around them. There are many options to get out and see them, with most people choosing to go on a guided tour and often sleeping under the stars. There is also the option to drive through the park in one’s own vehicle though, which should certainly appeal to the more adventurous tourists.
Another great area to explore in Kruger National Park is the Echo Caves, which are a great way to explore the history of this area of Africa. These caves are found just west of the Molopong Valley and are counted as some of the oldest in the world – once inhabited by the Sans people that used to roam these lands thousands of years ago. There are numerous rock engravings here that prove these peoples’ existence in these caves, although it is the majesty of the caves themselves that will bowl most people over.
