The Treatment Action Campaign Khayelitsha District, the Western Cape Youth Commission and our allies, will be holding a press conference on Thursday 24 April 2008 to discuss the upcoming march on 26 April.
The march is a protest against violence directed at women, children and our community. It will take place in Harare, Khayelitsha (meeting at the Harare Park between 33-section and 34-section). We will march from the Harare Park to the Harare Police Station where we will hand over a memorandum of demands. A follow up event will be held at Site C taxi rank to highlight the discrimination against women prominent in these environments.
The march follows recently publicised events including the finalisation of the Nandipha Makeke court case and the intimidation of TAC members. At the press conference we will explain the march and hand out the memorandum of demands.
DATE: 24 April
TIME: 12 noon
VENUE: ALP offices, 4th Floor, Westminster House, 122 Longmarket Street, Cape Town.
